Police did an excellent job

Editor — I write to commend the police for their swift reaction to the Chegutu bank robbery. That is good work.

If police do this to every case, this country will be another Heaven, where people live in peace and tranquillity. It will be a place where criminals fear for their lives.

That a few hours after the robbery police managed to arrest two of the suspects and continued to arrest suspected bank robbers speaks well of the way police have executed their duties.

With dollarisation, we are now banking our money and we need banks to be safe custodians of our hard-earned cash.

We also want to be free to enter our banking halls and carry out our transactions without fear and police should therefore ensure that Zimbabwe is not a place for armed robbers, local or foreign. In fact, we want a crime-free Zimbabwe.

Detectives dealing with this case must set an example that Zimbabwe can deal with criminals within hours of their committing a crime.

Now my biggest appeal is for the judiciary to complement police efforts and ensure that the same criminals do not come back in a short space of time to threaten our lives.

Once again thanks to the police for their action.
