OF all the countries in the region Botswana has decided to be the black sheep of the family by antagonizing its relations with Zimbabwe only to please the western imperialists who have an embedded regime change agenda.
Botswana has tried without success to incite other countries in the region to close their borders on Zimbabwe.
To show that Botswana was serious, in 2008 it ordered that all furniture at its embassy in Zimbabwe in Belgravia be auctioned with immediate effect. The move was triggered by the delay in forming a government of national unity by the three parties comprising Zanu PF, MDC and MDC-T because Morgan Tsvangirai was dilly-dallying on whether to join the inclusive Government or not.
Botswana once advocated sanctions on Zimbabwe by the country’s neighbours and was leading the onslaught against the then Zanu PF government.
Zimbabwean cattle that stray into that country are shot for no apparent reason under the guise of controlling the spread of foot and mouth disease. Zimbabwean nationals were shot along the border by the Tswana authorities.
Even the treatment of our nationals in Botswana is very bad but we have their nationals who attend school in Bulawayo. These students have never complained of bad treatment by Zimbabweans.
The recent furor about the mischievous game rangers who deliberately wanted to test the vigilance of our security is just but a speck of dust in an ocean.
The Tswanas are some of the architects of the slogan that says in Zimbabwe there is no rule of law.
Now that the Zimbabwean rule of law was applied to them, they started crying foul. Botswana even preferred to severe its diplomatic relations with Zimbabwe simply because of these adventurous rangers who had no regard of Zimbabwean laws.
The incident did not require the foreign affairs ministers of the two countries to meet over the issue as what Pandu Skelemani the Botswana Minister of foreign affairs attempted to do.
Anyway the Tswanas were taught a very good lesson on respecting neighbours’ laws they will never forget. If they thought they could do as they wish, it is a shame they went back with tails between their legs after having a stint of what life in a Zimbabwean jail is like. Now they are aware Zimbabwe is no pushover.
It is on record that on a regular basis Botswana rounds up illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe who are at times flogged in public for petty crimes.
What our cruel neighbour does not realize is that for almost three decades Zimbabwean nationals have been making shopping trips to Botswana, propping up their economy in the process.
The ruinous illegal sanctions imposed by the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom at the instigation of MDC-T has forced Zimbabwe to lose its skilled labour to other countries, Botswana included.
In essence it means our skilled labourers are offering their special services to a hostile country at the expense of their own.
Before the formation of the inclusive Government, Ian Khama the President of Botswana had indicated that he would not recognize President Mugabe as the legitimate President of this country.
As if that was not enough, Botswana started boycotting regional forums where President Mugabe was invited.
This so called neighbour of ours once pressed for the suspension of Zimbabwe from continental and regional forums because the country was run by what Botswana called an illegitimate government.
There were reports that the West might launch a military invasion of Zimbabwe and Botswana was seen as an obvious launching pad because the Americans established a very big well-equipped state of the art military base in Botswana.
The Americans chose Botswana because it is a suitable puppet that exhibited characteristics of a “Judas Iscariot” against its neighbours.
Botswana is a marionette that moves its limbs when the comedian (America) pulls the strings and the audience (MDC-T and its surrogates) gets entertained. Where is their sovereignty if whatever they do is dictated to them by their Western master? Shame on them.
